Statistics

We at Detroit Alley Cats strive to make an impact on the lives of cats and our community. Our success is measured by the number of cats that we take into our program, successfully home, fix and release back out, as well as the cats that we tried to save but couldn’t. We have been operating as a no-kill rescue since the beginning, with zero cats in our care euthanized except to end terminal suffering.

Since we began our adoptions program in June 2020, we have successfully adopted out over 130 cats to this date.

In 2021, we took in 102 cats, adopted out 93, and had 14 cats left at the end of the year. We had 6 die in our care, and euthanized 2 for untreatable illnesses. These deaths may or may not have been prevented had we more resources at the time.

Our total success at keeping our cats alive and getting them adopted is measured by the ASPCA Live Release Rate = Live Outcomes / Total Intake, which for 2021 was 93%.

Below you will find our monthly and annual reports of our intake and outcomes, as well as our Live Release Rate calculations.

Our TNR and community impact is also measured separately, which we will be publishing in the future.
