Hundreds of thousands of cats roam the streets of Detroit.

Everyday Detroiters come upon cats and kittens that are sick, injured, and in unsafe conditions, call everywhere they can for help and hit wall after wall with every rescue and shelter being perpetually full and overwhelmed. 

Since 2019, we’ve worked extremely hard to make a dent in these walls. Detroit is a city of cat lovers, the cats are our friends and neighbors. We help not only the cats but their human caretakers, by spaying and neutering the feral cats they feed, distributing food donations, providing advice and connecting to other resources if we are at capacity. In 2020 we officially launched our adoption program placing friendly outdoor cats and kittens into homes and have adopted out over 500 cats to this day. 

And this is but such a tiny dent. Every year gets harder and harder with cats reproducing like crazy. We still can help only a small fraction of all the cats that need help just in the Detroit city limits. 

To do more, we need more. And we need your help now. There are too many cats outside dying horrible deaths every day. 

This year is our 2nd consecutive participation in the Rocket Community Challenge, a month-long giving event launching August 5th at noon and running through August 30th at 5pm. During this time, you can donate directly to us via our Rocket Community Challenge profile page or sponsor us with a matching grant donation from your business.

For this challenge we are asking you to help us raise 50,000 – the amount we need to take us to the next level. Which will be used for:

• Finalizing our brick and mortar location
  • Our brick and mortar is 2.5 years in the making and almost done! Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming cat house and posts about our shelter building journey on our Instagram and Facebook pages. 

• Hiring staff
  • We cannot continue to grow without hiring more staff. We need reliable workers to manage and increase our cat intake and adoptions. 

This amount would take us astronomically far, empower us to make a greatly more significant difference that Detroit cats badly need.
